Take it from someone who's seen NY turn the stomach's of Randy Johnson, Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Ed Whitson, Javier Vasquez, etc, etc....all were successful in other markets but as soon as they got here and didn't perform, NY turned on them......they didn't handle that well at all......all of the guys who have succeeded in NY had that thick skin and basically didn't care what the fans/media thought.....they just went out there and did their thing....Lee strikes me as a guy who wants to be well received and liked

Showing up in NY on a visit as the enemy is totally different than pitching for us......Lee absolutely dominated us, no argument there.....but it's a huge difference when you're on another team

Lee was never enamored with NY.....contrary to what the Yankees believe, there are a lot of players who won't take their millions because they truly believe NY is a shitty place to play.....

      PISSED...PISSED ARRRGGGHHH

Unbelievable. 1-4 no one can touch this rotation...that's ridiculous.

I'm wondering how they will fix the pen, as well as try to make up for the loss of Werth.

Brown is a stud in the making but not sure if he can produce immediately like this...

      who am I kidding...

Rollins, Utley, Howard, Ruiz, Ibanez, Brown, Polanco, Victorino....FUCK MY LIFE.

      Then LH20??? SHOOT ME.

Yeah, I'm real angry. My team just won the World Series and beat the Phils relatively easy. If the Giants didn't win another World Series for 10 years I wouldn't care right now.

The point is that this type of shit is ruining sports, not just baseball. Teams are monopolizing talent and it hurts the league from top to bottom.

It has nothing to do with the Giants you dolt. I'm talking about sports in general. I'm just tired of seeing teams build like this. It's not my idea of what a TEAM is. Everyone hates the Yankees but the Red Sox and Phillies are doing the exact same thing as them. What's the difference? Why should it be ok for the Red Sox and Phils to do it but not the Yankees? I hate all of them. I hate any team that just stacks up on individual talent like this.

Take for example, the New England Patriots. They are the purest definition of a team and that's why I love their organization, even as a Raiders fan, because I admire the way they do business.

                  lol

You say the sport is in ruins because of teams acquiring so many aces or sluggers, but the fact is there have only been two teams SINCE 2000 who have won 2 World Series'. The fucking Florida Marlins won one for god sake.

                  Ruining the sport my ass.

Not to be a dick, but what were the Giants doing when they signed Zito to a 7 year $126 million dollar contract?

Listen, I understand what you are saying, it's just not a great example to use. Lee is taking 40 million dollars less to be a part of a team he enjoyed playing for.

Also, I wouldn't put the Phillies anywhere near the Yankees and Red Sox as far as free agent signing. Halladay was traded here and signed an extension below his market value. Oswalt was handed to us on a silver platter. We overpayed for Ibanez, but I wouldn't put that in the "Werth to Nationals" category.

The other big contracts are to home grown talent. Am I missing something? If you have other examples, please share.

It's 120 million, right? Not 100? That is what ESPN is reporting.

Still, fuck Cliff Lee and Phuck Philadelphia.

its funny, skip bayless stated today he has lost all respect for cliff lee, stating he is just like lebron james, wanted to join a team that was stacked with pitchers. hmmmmmm i wonder what flavor of haterade he was sipping in his cup. he also stated that maybe lee didnt want the pressure of playing in new york.......
i am sure cliff lee is going to lose sleep about what skip bayless thinks, as he counts his chips

I think it's like 5 Years $100 million with an option (don't know if it's player or team) for a 6th at $20 mill.

Lee and LeBron are 2 different players in regards to their stature in their respective leagues. LeBron was billed as someone who would be the best player in NBA history when all is said and done.

Lee is the 2nd best pitcher in his current rotation. Cmon, let's have a little perspective.

Well it's kind of Skip Bayless's job to say shit like that. The bigger joke is on you even watching his shit.

But I tend to agre, Cliff Lee is a cocksucker. I'm just a bitter Braves fan however.
