Forget Cliff Lee, Yankees make huge splash:

    ... signing catcher Russell Martin.

Spurned by Cliff Lee, the New York Yankees signed catcher Russell Martin, according to sources.

Terms not available yet. But who needs Cliff Lee when you can add a catcher with little pop or hitting ability who turns 28 this year but is already washed up?

    Posada will play DH now.

Posada is going to be the full-time DH and the starting catcher role will go to either Martin or the wonderkin Jesus Montero.

Isn't Montero pretty much an all-bat guy? Anytime I hear about him the follow up is always whether not will even be catching in 2-3 years.

Austine Romine will be the Yankees full time catcher in two years....he's ahead of Montero defensively and they say his bat is adequate

Seeing how the Red Sox rebuilt, the Phillies landed Lee, and the public hit they took from the Jeter contract talks, Cashman is sulking in his office

His next panic move will be to try and trade Montero for a pitcher, possibly Greinke.....whatever move he makes next, it will reek of panic

For now, Martin is a better option than Cervelli who peaked in April
