I didnt see the amounts but 1 year deals the Rays had to do something to stay up with the Sox.

Hey your lost some big names players, worth a shot if it works out for them. If it means beating the Yankees Im all for it.

Damon got big money (about four or five mil) while Manny signed for about $2 million.

$2 million is a great deal for Manny, IMO. It's gonna be weird seeing him in a Rays uniform though.

Damon is a sack of shit though. Can't say I'm a fan of his game at this point. At the least this will help them stay afloat for 2011 while they replenish the farm.

A couple of crafty moves, signaling that the Rays arent throwing in the towel while they retool. The Manny deal might be the best deal of the entire offseason, because it carries zero risk.

The only thing I don't get is how Damon gets that much more money than Manny. But I get the signing of both, since Damon does need his cut off man.

                Everyone retires to Florida eventually.

Hope they like the money because nobody is coming to the games when they start losing.

Manny was heroic his few years with LA. Well, mainly in 08. I mean it was a thing of beauty to watch. How effortless he was seeing the ball....which made it all the more tragic when he suddenly lost his bat speed.

I can't say I know how much he got by on raw talent and/or pure commitment...ha, well, what am I talking about, I saw him as a Dodger for a few years....man..I just wish he had a little more hustle in his game.. Oh well..He was great.
