is the phillies 4man the goat?

Doc, Lee, Oswalt and Hamels? thats a beast of a rotation. obsioulsy not together long term but i wonder how you guys feel it stacks up to some of the other dominate staffs on recent history.

the most notable for me is the braves staff. Maddox, Smoltz, Glavin. They didnt have the stud #4 by there 1-3 was awesome

I'm not sure why the '71 Orioles don't get brought up more in this discussion. Not saying they were the best rotation ever, but I hardly ever see them in the conversation.

Palmer, Cuellar, Dobson, and McNally all won 20+ games in 1971 and threw 70 CG's.

The Dodgers for a time had Koufax, Drysdale, Podres, and Newcombe.

The Braves had quality all the way to #4 with either Avery or Millwood.

Let's see these Phillies take the hill before we crown them, but it obviously looks impressive.

Even the Orioles a decade later, with Palmer as the veteran of the group, at any given time also had Storm Davis, Scott McGregor, Dennis Martinez, Mike Boddicker, and Mike Flanagan. I believe the '83 WS Champs has all sic of those guys, in fact.

Name/expectation wise Id say yes. but I agree lets see what they do. Barring Hamels doesnt go back into duesch bag mode, he should have the best season stats wise out of all of them.

You use to be a number2 and put up numbers now your a 4. If he gets ANY run support he should 20+ easy

            Archer
            LCAAU
