    Help with my fantasy team

I don't know much about baseball and I have never played fantasy baseball before. I made my first 5 picks before I had to set it to autopick because I had to go to work. I honestly don't know who half these guys even are.

    Need some help/advice/feedback:

    C - Buster Posey
    1B - Miguel Cabrera
    2B - Martin Prado
    3B - Pablo Sandoval
    SS - Alexei Ramirez
    2B/SS - Ian Desmond
    1B/3B - Ian Stewart
    OF - Ichiro Suzuki
    OF - Carlos Beltran
    OF - Ryan Raburn
    OF - Coco Crisp
    OF - Tyler Colvin
    UTIL - Mark Reynolds
    DL - Franklin Gutierrez

    P - CC Sabathia
    P - David Price
    P - Wandy Rodriguez
    P - Shaun Marcum
    P - Jonathon Broxton
    P - Ryan Franklin
    P - Jaime Garcia
    Bench - Johnny Venters
    Bench - Jon Garland
    Bench - Jake Westbrook
    Bench - Rafael Soriano

One thing I want to do is add Giants rookie OF Brandon Belt but I don't know who to drop. Who is the most useless guy on my team?

What are my major concerns? Any and all advice is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    What are the stats counted?

If HLDs aren't a category and it's not a keeper league you can easily let go of Soriano.

      Don't know what HLDs is.

      Scoring:

      Batting
Total Bases (TB) 1 Walks (BB) 1
Runs Scored (R) 1 Runs Batted In (RBI) 1
      Stolen Bases (SB) 1 Strikeouts (K) -1

      Pitching
Innings Pitched (IP) 3 Earned Runs (ER) -2
      Wins (W) 10 Losses (L) -5
      Saves (SV) 5 Strikeouts (K) 1
Hits Allowed (H) -1 Walks Issued (BB) -1

I think this is how the standard ESPN scoring is. I don't like it but whatever. The guy who is the commish doesn't know anything about baseball, either, we literally made this league and filled it in a day or two with friends just for fun.

        HLDs = Holds

Yeah, drop Soriano, you don't need him really. Tyler Colvin is going to be tough to because there simply isn't a place to play him right now in the crowded and expensive Cubs OF, but he's tough to let go. Westbrook isn't going to do much for you either.

Get rid of Soriano because he's a set-up guy. He'd only be useful if your league counted holds (stat for relievers who maintain a lead).

You have a nice group of starters and your infield is solid.

The weakest part of your team is your OF and your closers (for saves).

Would any of these guys on the wire help me?:

            Chipper Jones
            JJ Hardy
            Yadier Molina
            David DeJesus
            Lyle Overbay
            Yuniesky Betancourt
            Michael Brantley

Just naming guys on the wire that have the highest Own% and points scored from last season.

Any of these pitchers worth picking up?

              Aroldis Chapman
              Jordan Walden
              Jon Rauch
              Johan Santana
              Edwin Jackson
              Brett Cecil
              Bud Norris

If so, who should I drop for them?

Not really re: the pitchers. You need saves, so I'd see if any big producers in that category are available. If you can, see if any closers are still available.

Walden is a hot prospect for the Angels but there's no telling when/if they'll try him out as a closer.

If your league has DL spots Johan would be worth picking up and stashing on the DL until he comes back in June. You wouldn't have to drop anyone, just do the transaction before you pick up Belt (he doesn't take up a roster spot once he's on the DL).

Thanks. My league has 2 DL spots.

I assume Peavy and Webb are already on a team otherwise you could consider adding one of them also.

If you can spare a roster spot, it may be worth taking a flier on Walden but he's definitely a sleeper.

Fuentes may get some opportunities through the first two weeks but Andrew Bailey is Oakland's closer (he's on the DL to start tho).

I've put in a request for Santana already. Brandon Webb and Walden are both available. Which one should I grab?

Or were you talking about Ryan Webb?

No Brandon Webb, you can pick up Webb and put him on the DL, and then get Walden.
