    Favorite Baseball Experts?

    I do really enjoy Jayson Stark, and I think that it is beyond the Philly homerism. I think he gets killed a bit too much for that.

    Bill James.

    He sees the game from angles that make you think "how the hell did I not notice this?". He's also a tremedously gifted writer. But what I like about him the most, is unlike the robotic drones from places like Baseball Prospectus, who are slaves to obscure statistics and think baseball is played in a vacuum, James recognizes that baseball is played by people, not statistic generating beings, and he understands, appreciates, and recognizes the personalities of the game, and despite being "the godfather of sabermetrics" how its not always a numbers crunch.

      Have you read his Historical Baseball Abstract? I flip through that thing at least twice per week. I can re read it forever.

      His Gold Mine books have some good articles too, but they are more giant $20 ads for his paysite.
