    All-Star Voting Update

Here are the results so far:

    AL:

    C: Russell Martin: NYY: 843,459
    1B: Mark Texiera: NYY: 827,247
    2B: Robinson Cano: NYY: 1,185,952
    3B: Alex Rodriguez: NYY: 945,127
    SS: Derek Jeter: NYY: 931,410
    OF: Jose Bautista: TOR: 1,261,659
    OF: Curtis Granderson: NYY: 994,315
    OF: Josh Hamilton: TEX: 748,240
    DH: Michael Young: TEX: 646,979

    NL:

C: Brian McCann: ATL: 633,987 (Posey was first)
    1B: Albert Pujols: STL: 988,784
    2B: Brandon Phillips: CIN: 837,778
    3B: Placido Polanco: PHI: 724,724
    SS: Troy Tulowitzki: COL: 975,777
    OF: Ryan Braun: MIL: 971,809
    OF: Matt Holliday: STL: 927,778
    OF: Lance Berkman: STL: 872,434

The NL I think is looking pretty good. Votto should be ahead of Pujols and I think Bruce should get the nod over Holliday and Weeks should be ahead of Phillips.

The AL is a complete joke. Martin/Jeter should not be starters.

Asdrubal Cabrera: .306 AVG, 10 HR, 39 RBI, .360 OBP
Derek Jeter: .264 AVG, 2 HR, 16 RBI, .328 OBP

Russell Martin: .242 AVG, 9 HR, 26 RBI, .352 OBP
Victor Martinez: .300 AVG, 5 HR, 28 RBI, .358 OBP

I know Victor's been hurt for part of the season, but he still has better numbers.

Phillips is having the best defensive season at 2B that I have seen in years, and he's raking at the dish despite batting in a different spot of the order every other week. He makes a highlight reel play or two every game, its actually kind of ridiculous.

Asdrubal Cabrera might be the AL MVP to this point.

Pretty goofy, but aside from Jeter, the others are good choices or you can at least make a solid argument.

          Brandon Phil: .290 AVG, 5 HR, 30 RBI, .353 OBP, .410 SLG, .763 OPS, 1.8 WAR/10.6 UZR
          Rickie Weeks: .291 AVG, 10 HR, 23 RBI, .365 OBP, .502 SLG, .867 OPS, 2.5 WAR/-2.1 UZR

Weeks is the better hitter and worth more to the team, while Phillips is by far the better defender.

Weeks has hit for more power which likely accounts for the negligable WAR edge.

So.what it comes down to, is what do you prefer in your All Star? A few more homers, or the better all around year?

Doesn't really make a difference, because they will both end up being on the team. The real justice here is Utley isn't winning.

I know what your talking about, the only thing I think Phillips has on Weeks is defense. The only reason why Weeks has 23 RBI's is because he is hitting leadoff. He shouldn't be a leadoff hitter because of the power that he has. If he was hitting #5, you could be looking at a .290/30/90 type hitter, while Phillips is like a .275/20/80 type hitter.

Like you said though, both will probably make so it's not a big deal.

Well, hard to argue with that.

If you bump into Hanley some time, send him a "suck my dick, crigga" from me, for single handedly killing not one, but two of my fantasy teams.

Hanloaf can't even leave his home without facing the ridicule of the 4,000 old cubans that attend Marlins games.

I'd have Alex Avila over Martinez. Hes proven this year to be one of the best young catchers in baseball. Lets hope he keeps it up. In regards to everyone else THe only ones deserving on their spot right now are Granderson, Bautista, and Michael Young, but technically Young should be at 3rd not DH.
