    Angels call up Mike Trout

He's in for a rude awakening. Going from AA to the majors will not pan out well.

    Starlin Castro says hi.

AAA has become a place for minor league lifers. A lot of the top young players to get the call to the pros didn't play in AAA or spent minimum time there. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a prospect spending a year with a AAA club, but it isn't a necessity.

      He's 19.

He won't be a real contributor for a few years, I suspect this is a cup of coffee type situation.

I think that whether he stays in the majors or goes back to the minors is dependent on how he fares in the major leagues.

Leake spent four years at Arizona St and was like 23 last year. I don't remember Nady's situation.

19 is really young. That's once per generation stuff if he doesn't go back. Andruw Jones was "19", but really probably like 30. Anybody else recently who stuck?

B.J. Upton, Justin Upton, A-Rod, Felix Hernandez, and Adrian Beltre all came up before they were 20.

That's like, five times per generation stuff.

^thats what Im saying. I know it can happen, but the chances of it happening are not in Trouts favor.

lolwut, people skip AAA all the time now. I'd say more big time prospects go directly from AA to the majors than not these days.

To be fair to Rudi here, it's an organizational thing. Rudi is a Reds fan, and they still move guys up the ladder. All of the top Reds prospects are in AAA aside from the really younger guys like Billy Hamilton. The whole core (Votto, Bruce, Cueto, Hanigan, Stubbs, Heisey, etc) came up together and went through AAA.

I didn't know Reds fans were like Yankees fans and can't be bothered to follow the rest of the league. Good to know.

But yeah the Reds are slower with their prospects than other teams.
