    Beltran to Giants?

Giants closer Brian Wilson hinted after Tuesday's All-Star Game that his club is in talks with the Mets regarding Carlos Beltran.
"I guess we're in talks with them about Beltran," said Wilson. "Just another perennial hitter. Could only help out a squad. I think we've got a pretty good team already. We are in first place." When a reporter asked Wilson to clarify, the bearded closer reportedly smiled and said, "I didn't say that. I said I heard a rumor that someone's interested." It's obvious Giants' manager Bruce Bochy likes Beltran, as he chose him for the NL squad and put him in the starting lineup as the designated hitter for the All-Star Game. While Nate Schierholtz has played well in right field lately

It works fine. You must have a Windows 95 Netscape connection or something.

I dont think the Giants are going to give the Mets what they want for Beltran, but they will offer prospects before players on their current roster. I could see them offering Brandon Belt but not much else.

I'd take Belt and walk away strutting...that'd be immense for the Mets.

                  I'd also take Zack Wheeler.

I would hope even Sabean, Mr. "No such thing as a pitching prospect", would be wise enough to hold off on including Wheeler in that deal.

He's a free agent at the end of the year.

His contract prohibits his team from offering him arbitration (no draft picks as compensation for losing him), so it's strictly a 2-3 month rental.

i really hope they dont plan on dishing belt for beltran...imo the only way this is feasible is if they plan on moving Posey to first. Huff came back to earth this season and has looked like the journeyman he's been his whole career. Belt has promise and could bolster a very questionable lineup in the near future.

Seems like the Mets maybe reluctant to deal Beltran right now.

But if the Giants get desperate and offer Belt or Wheeler or god forbid both, you HAVE to do the deal.

Right now I think the only way the Mets deal Beltran is if they get a top prospect. For an example of who the Mets are wanting in return, they supposedly wanted Profar from rangers.
