Granderson should watch all sports, because this is the norm at any sporting event. Its mostly white people willing to pay stupid prices for tickets.

There's a whole generation of black kids who don't give a shit about baseball.

MLB is doing a shit job of getting their attention.

You could probably say that about white kids too. Just not a huge following among younger fans.

There's a shit ton of exciting young talent in MLB today, many of them black americans, but they are mainly on small market clubs. Some of the marketing is geared towards guys like Justin Upton (still only 23), Jason Heyward or Prince Fielder but there's still too much Jeter/Yankees/Sawx monotony in the overall coverage and marketing of the game. Guys like Andrew McCutchen and Mike Stanton need more shine.

A huge miss, IMO, was not inviting Upton and Stanton to compete in the HR Derby. If you can't get excited about a sport after watching those two hit bombs, you probably are a lost cause anyway.

Like I said, baseball should've stopped with the Mark Mcgwire/Sammy Sosa home run race.

          Nothing interesting since.

LOL at this comment. Barry Bonds was arguably the greatest hitter baseball had ever seen after Griffey was slowed by injury.

For all the lip service to Jackie Robinson, I don't think baseball will ever have a huge number of black players. Being athletic is an advantage, but being able to pitch and hit are more important. Blacks excel in the NBA and the NFL because those are more "athletic" sports. Whites do better in the MLB because it doesn't take great athleticism to be a pitcher, and Latinos do well because they spend their entire lives developing the technical aspects of the game.

And, as someone already said, the point is moot ("mute") because its all about ticket prices. The NBA is 80% black, but only white businessmen would be rich/stupid enough to shell out $95 for a 300 level seat.

Well, Dolan just raised MSG season tix 50% for a glorified .500 team.

But Griffey was likeable, moreso then Bonds, especially after he literally blew up...
