Reason #4231791803 baseball players are a bunch of pussies

The official website of the Detroit Tigers with the most up-to-date information on scores, schedule, stats, tickets, and team news.

    So in summation;

-Ordonez hits a HR that was close to being foul. He stares at the shot (his excuse being he wasn't sure if it was fair or foul, which I guess I buy. He's been around long enough that he doesn't need to admire his own HRs)

-Weaver immediately throws a bitch fit and tells him to "run faster". He proceeds to chirp at Ordonez throughout the game, prompting Ordonez to chirp back later on after a pop fly.

-Guillen, who I understand is Ordonez's best friend on the team, takes Weaver yard and adds a nice "Fuck you, THIS is a fuckin' stare" to his HR trot.

-In continued bitch fashion, Weaver continues to run his mouth even after he should have been put in his place. Both benches get warned, and he then launches a fastball at Aviles' head the very next pitch, continues mouthing off to the umpire, Aviles, and everyone else while walking (pretty quickly) back to the safety of his own dugout.

I won't even get into the "bunting on Verlander during the no-no" nonsense - don't have a problem with it at all. (Though Verlander is a bitch too for his actions in the dugout afterward)

But  at the "unwritten rules" of baseball showing up again. Ballplayers, especially pitchers, are fucking bitchmade, and Jered Weaver is a perfect example. He's as much a pussy for throwing that ball as he is for scurrying to the dugout immediately after and not facing the whupping that he rightfully should have gotten. Would've loved to see Guillen come out of the other dugout and break his punk ass in half.

You know why they're called "unwritten rules"? Because they're not actually rules. This shit is gonna get somebody killed one day.

    Thoughts?

I agree. In my haste. I forgot to illustrate that point in the OP.

    Stealth edit has been made.

Only players to have died from injuries suffered during an MLB game:

1909 - Doc Powers - On field collision in the field, died two weeks later
1920 - Ray Chapman - Was hit in head with pitch, died 12 hours later

In 2007, minor league first base coach Mike Coolbaugh was hit with a line drive in the neck while in the box and was pronounced dead when taken to the hospital.

Today's guys are plenty secure (besides the fact they still face 90+ mph fastballs routinely and the occasional on-field collision). Unfortunately, baseball waited until a base coach died before requiring everyone to wear helmets.

So what Guillen did is not "bitchmade", he totally showed up the pitcher. Aviles could of thanked Guillen if he got hit. Sure Weaver was being a bitch and throwing a hissy fit but any pitcher if Guillen did that they would be throwing at the next player, I think everybody knew it.

Did u see Verlander "threatening" aybar?

Again, I agree Verlander was being a punk as well. Bitch moves all around.

I'm not saying what Guillen did was right. But it's pretty easy to see why he did it. If Weaver wasn't being such a faggot, it never would have come to that.

They were all idiots...except Aybar. If the only reason Verlander was calling him out was b/c he bunted during a no hitter...lol. It's a game, deal with it.

Verlander claims that Aybar elbowed him in the play at the plate, to which my response is "get the fuck out of the way, then".

It took over 100 years for a base coach to die from a foul ball. It was a freak accident and it would have probably been another 100 years before it happened again. Requiring helmets for the base coaches is a perfect example of how our society over reacts to shit. Wearing helmets now will not bring Coolbaugh back to life. What happens when another coach dies from a foul ball while wearing a helmet? Will we require suits of armor? Dumb, over reactionary nonsense.

I'm waiting for a fielder to catch one in the dome and die. They'll probably stick helmets on those guys, too.

3-run game, a bunt is not bush. Verlander is wrong.

                  8-0, 8th inning, it's bush.

Lol fuck Verlander's punk ass for being upset that Aybar tried to ruin his no-no. MEGA daps to Aybar, who the fuck WANTS to be no hit? Too many times it looks like hitters stop running out close plays or arent going up trying to ruin the no-no late in the game because they feel "bad" or obligated to the pitcher. Fuck that shit.

To be fair they probably should've been wearing helmets from the jump, regardless of who or who hasnt died. They're often old ass guys who look near asleep out there, bad shit has potential to happen there. Fielders wearing helmets shouldnt have to happen because players should always be aware of the ball, not that base coaches shouldnt, but they are old sleepy fucks.

My larger point is that as a society we tend to over react to freak accidents. Not so much a baseball point as it is a social point.

How is mandating base coaches wear helmets "overreacting."

                          Are you necessarily against it?

                            I do feel it's needless.

I understand the argument that for over a century, base coaches have been pretty secure.

At the same time, anything that promotes safety for people in the line of fire is fine with me.
