    Strasburg Rehab Start

Stephen Strasburg will likely make his first minor league rehab start Sunday with Class A Hagerstown.
It won't be official until he makes it through a side session Thursday. Strasburg is scheduled to throw 1-2 innings in his first outing and will gradually build up his workload from there. If all goes well, he could rejoin the Nationals' rotation in late-August or early-September.

This is dumb, your season is over, why bring him back now, let him rehab all offseason

Instead of having nobody in attendance for home games come August, fans will actually buy tickets just to see Strasburg.

He needs to get some live action or he won't know where he stands all winter.

yeah but to risk you're franchise player like that I dont like it. I get what you are saying though. Im saying he's gotta pitch bring him back more slowly, let him build up the strength even more, hell there is all type of winter ball he can play and throw at

How are they risking it? They are having him start off slow and gradually work his way up. Do u really think they are rushing him? I think he is right on track.

They just had the same injury with Jordan Zimmerman and he came back just as well this year, they have a plan and this is how it goes.

It has already been over a year. You can't baby a player, no matter how talented. They have already taken precaution with Strasburg to this point, so it is time to get him out there and get in two or three starts before the season is over.

I just dont think he needs to pitch in the majors this year I guess, I feel like they are doing it for sales boost.

Because part of TJ rehab is to pitching meaningful games. For Strasburg, meaningful means major leagues

                  This.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!

Strasburg had his rehab start today.

He threw 30 pitches. Gave up three hits (one a homer) and struck out 4. Was hitting high 90s on the gun and struck out at least one guy on a breaking ball

As long as it's a slow build and works in with his rehab plan I see no downside to this.

Yeah. You just keep moving him along as he's ready for each next step. Nationals place in the standings or how many games are left is irrelevant. When the minor league season ends, are you supposed to just send the guy home to sit on his ass? No, you bring him up, and let him start a few games to keep his rehab going. Even if he's limited to 70 or 80 pitches. The Nats being out of it is actually a better argument for this.

They started him at 30 pitches. He'll probably look to increase it by 10 pitches per outing.

He's not being set as a starter, per say. He is starting for whoever is playing closest to the DC. That way he can come in for workouts and therapy and the like.

Good start. Already sitting at 96/97 which is where he should be.
