Aramis would be a good fit in Philly this year. Still have to LOL at how they are constructing that club long term, but until the wheels fall off, enjoy it!

The Orioles are interested in free agent first baseman Prince Fielder, confirmed GM Dan Duquette. However, Duquette also told Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com that he doesn't want fans to get their hopes up.
Which means that they will make a goodwill offer, but it will fall short of what Fielder eventually signs for.

I like the moves Duquette has made already, but the fact that he still has the Stockstills on his staff means that some things are still being dictated by ownership. That means that Prince Fielder will not be in Baltimore. But that is exactly what the Orioles need- someone who is going to spark interest again.

Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com heard Monday that a recent meeting between Phillies officials and the agent for Jimmy Rollins "did not go well." Rollins and his agent, Dan Lozano, are still pushing for a five-year contract. And the Phillies do not plan on presenting an offer of that length. The 33-year-old shortstop is also drawing free agent interest from the Brewers, but it's doubtful Milwaukee would give him five years either.

The Cubs are getting a bit of interest in left fielder Alfonso Soriano, tweets SI's Jon Heyman. Soriano, 35, is owed $54MM through 2014 and has a full no-trade clause. Cubs would probably have to pay about 40 million of his salary though.

LOL @ Sandy & Co trying to lead the Mets fans to believe they aren't punting this season.

This team has holes everywhere and just lost Reyes, our most dynamic talent.

The only way Fielder is gonna come here is if he wants to come here. I can't figure a reason why he would wanna come here.

Without Reyes, there really isn't any chance that team can compete in 2012. The NL East is stacked. Best bet is to spend the money on scouting, not old free agents and be ready for when the Phillies crash in a few years.

He's gone. Another overpriced free agent. No thanks!

Realistically, the Mets won't contend until 2014 when hopefully Harvey, Wheeler, Familia are in play. By then, Bay's contract is off the books and they should have a 2B and CF .

Perhaps they can make a push in the second half of 2013.

The only other way is if there is a lack of interest, like Tejada back in 2003 and Guerrero last season. Somehow, I don't think that is going to happen with Fielder, but the Orioles probably aren't going to spend it. Duquette is trying to downplay the teams interest.

Personally, I really hope we end up with Gio Gonzalez. The asking price will be high, but he would be the first legit ace since Mussina.

Hold on......could be wrong about that. Sounds like the O's may have a legit shot at Fielder now if Angelos wants it to happen.

I'd prefer the Nationals or Blue Jays, so we get the best pick in the draft possible.

I'll be livid if Fielder signs with Miami, a sandwich pick, and a fourth rounder for arguably the best free agent of the offseason...Luckily it looks like Miami is going for Pujols.

Isn't taking long for the holes to emerge in the new CBA. What a joke.

The Nationals offered CJ Wilson a 6-year deal.
