Free agent shortstop Jose Reyes had lunch in Florida Wednesday with Marlins team officials.
"I would certainly count him amongst our priorities," Marlins president David Samson said after the visit. Reyes is already drawing interest from several teams and is likely to command bids in the area of $100 million. If the Marlins can compete with that, they'll have a shot at landing the 28-year-old shortstop. If not, Hanley Ramirez will not be asked to change positions.Comment

I've heard Seth Smith is involved, I'd hope that came with at least 1 other prospect, if not two.Comment

-Extend Phillips
-See if Cordero will take $5 or $6M, or else find another closer (not Joe Nathan, please)
-Trade some combination of Grandal, Wood, Bailey, Volquez, Heisey for a SP
-Peace out, Paul Janish. Find veteran insurance policy for Cozart.

With the Braves open-minded about trading players, the Rockies have contacted them about infielder Martin Prado, according to a major-league source.
The Rockies, who scouted Prado extensively last season, view him as a starting second baseman who could occupy a run-producing spot in the lineup. The clubs have not yet exchanged names but are expected to keep the lines of communication open.
Atlanta, which is seeking outfield help, is willing to consider moving Prado rather than use him in left field. The Rockies have outfield depth to start trade talks. Seth Smith could fit in a platoon for the Braves, and Charlie Blackmon, a former star at Georgia Tech, might satisfy the Braves' desire to get a center fielder of the future if they are unable to re-sign Michael Bourn after next season.
Smith + Blackmon? No thanks.Comment

I'm surprised Braves fans wouldn't be all over that.
Smith gives you the same production as Prado in less AB's. Granted, he can not hit lefties, and isn't as versatile, but you'd be getting a prospect, too.Comment

Prado is a fan favorite though so that's probably why this is gonna be a hard sell to the fans. Most fans still think Prado is the all-star caliber player he was last year and are expecting more of a "name" in return.Comment
