That did happen with someone forgot the name, maybe it was Mark Teahan?

Cahill is like 23, and one year removed from an 18 win, sub 3.00 ERA season on a .500 team. He's under team control until 2016. 2016!Comment

I stand by this statement though- if the Athletics didn't give Billy Beane ownership in the team, he would be gone by now. That team has been average to below average for about five years, and most other GMs would be canned.Comment

He's been an average GM since losing the Big Three. Those guys made his legacy- sure there is the whole Moneyball philosophy, but that kind of offense worked because you had Zito, Hudson and Mulder to lock things down.

Yeah, but two of those guys departed as free agents. Oakland couldn't afford to keep all three pitchers plus Tejada and Giambi. He went all-in with the Big Three, and didn't pull out a championship with it. He hasn't done much since, either.Comment

According to ESPN Chicago's Bruce Levine, the Brewers have signed Aramis Ramirez to a three-year deal.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says the deal is worth between $34-$37 million. Ramirez, 33, registered a superb .871 OPS with 26 home runs and 93 RBI in 149 games this past year for the Cubs. He's injury prone, but he's also capable of raking when healthy. The Brewers will hope that he can stay active and help replace some of the offense lost in the departure of Prince Fielder.Comment

So does this officially put the nail in the Fielder coffin for Milwaukee? Or can they afford both?
I assume it would be a McGahee/Gamel tag team at 1B now?Comment

Solid signing for the Brewers. Aramis is an odd player at times. You look at his stats at the end of the season and are impressed but you have trouble remembering anything meaningful that came from any of his hits.Comment
