Pretty sure Freeman could and would do it but he's also a better defensive 1B than Alonso so we'd probably just stick Yonder out there and punt LF defense (as if we don't already when Diaz or Hinske play out there).Comment

The Cincinnati Reds have been linked to several players, via both free agency and trade, so far this winter. And yet, the club hasn't made any noteworthy move.
ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney noted on Twitter Saturday that it's surprising the Reds haven't been able to bolster their team.
Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com also suggested in a recent column that it's time for the Reds to pull the trigger on a trade.
Cincy has been after a top-of-the-rotation starter, a closer and perhaps a left fielder. They've been linked to everyone from James Shields and Gio Gonzalez to Andrew Bailey and Joe Nathan.
What's frustrating for Reds fans, though, is that the team has plenty of depth and talent in the minors. The pieces are there for something big to happen: A package of some kind built around one or more of 1B/OF Yonder Alonso, INF Todd Frazier and catchers Devin Mesoraco and Yasmani Grandal could return a valuable arm.
Despite being former first-round picks, all of the above prospects are, for the most part, blocked by current players. Joey Votto, the 2010 NL MVP, is in Alonso's way; Frazier could be Scott Rolen's replacement, but the veteran third baseman is still under contract for this year; and Mesoraco and Grandal can't both be starting catchers for the same team.
With the St. Louis Cardinals losing Albert Pujols, and the Milwaukee Brewers without Prince Fielder and potentially Ryan Braun for 50 games, pending the results of his failed drug test appeal, the NL Central is ripe for the taking. After a disappointing 2011, the Reds could put themselves in position to take the division crown for the second time in three years. If they make the right move.

According to Baseball America.
Alonso is #3
Grondal is #4
Boxberger is #10
So the Reds gave up their 3rd, 4th, and 10th best prospects, BUT Grondal is blocked, and Boxberger is a RP.
Nice trade for both teams.Comment
