Braun played what 11 games less then Matt Kemp, which skews the WAR comparison. I don't think those 11 games should be counted against Braun.

Also Kemp gets a nice boost in WAR because he plays a more valuable position, however he also played terrible at a more important position. So should that value really be counted?

Yes, SS/CF players always have a more higher WAR because of the pos. they play.

Kemp UZR: -4.6
Braun UZR: -3.9

Value:

Kemp:

Batting: 58.6
Base Running: 2.9
Fielding: -4.6

Braun:

Batting: 59.3
Base Running: 3.3
Fielding: -3.9

This was Stark's main argument on ESPN the other day. If you split it up, Braun has been better than Kemp in all 3 of those categories.

That's true. Ryan Braun's teammates being better than Matt Kemp's is really important criteria to consider for an individual award.

Good for Braun, he deserved to win the MVP. As good of a season as Kemp had, he didn't play in a meaningful game in September. Being the best player in the league on a 3rd place team doesn't mean that you're the league MVP.
