Well of course I wanted Matt Kemp to win. He put up awesome hitting numbers in the hitters' hell-hole that is the NL West. Dodger Stadium, AT&T Park, and Petco Park are three of the stingiest venues in the game and they are also home to some of the stingiest pitchers in the game as well (thankfully Kemp never had to face Doyer pitchers).
That being said, I'm happy for Braun. Honestly, I thought the award was a toss up and if anything, giving it to Braun is fine with me as long as the reason isn't "because his team made the playoffs." The statistics for both hitters are pretty similar and kudos to the voters if they used relied on stats more advanced than RBIs and Runs.
I hope the fact that Kemp fell short in the voting keeps him humble and provide fuel for him to work as hard (or harder) this offseason as he did last season. His 2010-2011 turnaround is legendary in my book.
