    Manny coming back?

Man Ram has been working out in south Florida and wants to serve a 50-game suspension (compromise between the union, which is arguing he "served" his full 100 gamer, and the league) and play next year.

Buster Olney tweeted that some AL teams are interested and will give him the opportunity to prove he can still hit in spring training as a non-roster invitee.

If I'm a middling AL team, I would definitely roll the dice and take a shot. Maybe you get .310/20/60 in 100 games. Plus it drums up some excitement when he comes back end of May or early June and helps sell some tix when you're 8 out and on the verge of falling out of it.

      DO IT

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he wouldn't, because if the Reds were in the AL, Yonder Alonso would promptly be moved to DH, and Manny would be surplus.

Media already have asked Duquette when he introduced two new hires in the front office.

                Here is Duquette’s response:

“Manny is always interesting and he’s never predictable, but I don’t know too much about the mechanics of what we would have to do or if we could do it,” Duquette said. “Manny is always a lot of fun to be around and he is very entertaining.”

By the way, according to Fox Sports, Ramirez apparently has hired agents Barry Praver and Scott Shapiro to represent him. The Orioles are plenty familiar with Praver. He represented former Oriole pitcher Sidney Ponson.
He won't rule it out, but the Orioles would like to not have a DH only, but even Showalter was on record that he wouldn't rule it out if it was the "right" player. So who knows what to expect, it is all depending on how the market develops.

He was a pathetic player when he retired, cant even imagine how useless he is now after a long lay off.

Rays, Mariners, Red Sox, Yankees, Royals, Tigers, White Sox, Indians, Twins, Rangers, Angels, and A's have no interest.

That leaves Baltimore and Toronto as really the only realistic options for him since I doubt any NL team is going to sign him.

Toronto probably doesn't have the room for him. Lawrie is starting at third, and Lind and Encarnacion have the 1B/DH spot locked down. That leaves Baltimore until Duquette says he has no interest.

Like with Guerrero, this move would be six years too late.

He was very good in 2009, ok overall in 2010 (didn't do much for the White Sox, though). He only had 17 AB's for TB, so who knows. He will be 40.

Baltimore for sure....He'll just pad his stats in May..O's will be a half dozen games out of the AL East/WC race. Perfect place for him to go and waste away.

I'm not even sure he had an extra base hit with the White Sox.
