Just many solid seasons. As a fielding SS, he was pretty good, but nothing spectacular.
    Top 9!

And yeah, one of those MVP's was in CF. I'd still take him over Ozzie. Cronin over Ozzie, too.

How do you guys rate Trammell? Top 15 for sure, probably around 12 for me. To me he's the HOF cut off point. Better than Trammell, you' re in.

I'd say you nailed it on the Head with Trammell, he is sadly the cut-off point

Oh and Yount 1479 games at SS and 1218 in OF, so that makes him eligible for this list, So I'd call that an oversight on MLB networks part.

        .285/.342/.430/.772
averaged 14 HRs and 80 RBI 15 SB

        2 MVP
        3 Silver Sluggers
        1 Gold Glove

strangely only 3 All Star appearances.

However he is in the Hall already and should have been on the list making it top 10. Actually pretty comparable to Ripken.

One of those MVPs was as an OF'er though. Not sure you can count that

one of his Silver Sluggers was too.

either way as I said he qualifies in that he had more than 1000 games at SS and had more games at SS than any other position plus he is in the Hall, so he was definitely an oversight not making the list, the least they could have done is make it top 10.

The gimmick they do for the list shows is "Prime 9". It's always 9.

                Ahh, I get it.

hmm, interesting then really, I mean its hard to not put him up there, but who do you kick off, I mean Ozzie Smith doesn't have the hitting numbers but we know his fielding, I don't know about Applings fielding, but assume he must have been good, he was a good hitter for a SS, so I would be hard pressed to take him off the list.

                  Something funny to note.

Ernie Banks while he did play more games at 1B than he did SS. All his best seasons were at SS.

                  including both MVP's
Lead the league in Home Runs twice and hit 40 HR's as a Shortstop 5 times

Alex Rodriguez won only 1 of his MVP's as a SS and his only 2 Gold Gloves. Plus 7 of his 10 Silver Sluggers. Lead the league in HR's 3 times as a SS and only twice since moving to 3B. His only Batting title was at SS, but 3 out of his 4 Slugging titles were at 3B
