    @JonHeymanCBS Jon Heyman
    trade is andrew bailey and ryan sweeney for josh reddick, miles head (3b) and raul alcantara (rhp). #redsox, #athletics
    Head and Alcantara both have a lot of upside, but they're both still in A ball. Return doesn't exactly get me excited about possibly trading John Axford next year.

      A little shocked that's all we had to give up for Bailey and Sweeney.

          Good pick-up(s) for Boston. I've always liked Sweeney.

                    And the Orioles couldn't trade for him? Ridiculous. Boston's got a nice arm to slot into the back of their pen.

                      Why would they do that?

                        They were rumored to be in on both Bailey and Huston Street during the winter meetings. Having one of those guys would allow Jim Johnson to slot back into the rotation again.

                            Why would a team stuck in the bottom of their division, with a bad farm system trade for a closer like this? It's not a good use of resources at all.

                              I think the answer is in the question.
