    I dont know.

Look at Darren Daulton. Slow of foot, yet one of the best SB% guys of all time (50/60 for his career), and almost never hit into DP's (a career high of 6, and only 35 in his entire career!). CS & GIDP are those hidden outs that sometimes we forget about.

When you see guys like Daulton & Edmonds, who arent really burners, being so efficient in those areas, it leads me to believe that these are smart players who steal off of savvy, and look for something to drive with a man on first to avoid rally killing ground balls.

You see fast guys who hit into lots of DP's, and you see slow guys who don't. It isnt really about speed.

Seriously, I have no idea why Lofton isn't on this list. And he is also a guy who played for a high level for a good period of time, and was still productive in his last seasons. The guy hit .296 at age 40 with a .366 OBP in his final year as well.
