I think we need to lay off Gil Meche in this thread, and go back to abusing Ken Schrom.

Meche signed what was universally thought to be a horrid contract with KC, but then pitched very well for them. Then he got hurt, tried to make a comeback as a mop up reliever, and decided he didn't want to steal money as the 8th bullpen arm. So he not only retired, but he ripped up his contract and told KC to stop paying him. I believe he also gave money back that he felt he didn't earn.

Meche is a great man. Dare I say... All Star.

Morons likely can't but they suck anyways......so who cares?

By pointing out Ken Schrom and Bill Madlock, its kind of missing the forest for the trees here when discussing Hall of Fame...

At the end of the day, the Hall of Fame is about telling the story of the game, showing its historical development and impact on Americana, and honoring players, managers, people who have made outstanding contributions to the game in some regard. Fin.
          yes this exactly.

Ok, but the issue isn't the voters here. We know they are retarded. The question obviously revolves around if intelligent people were voting should ASG's matter and how much?

I really do think it is pointless. The all star game has become a glorified popularity contest, while the Hall of Fame (with intelligent voters) is voted based off of pure skills and statistics. Between the fan vote, managers not always selecting the best players, and the rule of at least one all-star per team, it has become a joke to use it as any measurement of a career.

Rafael Palmeiro only made four all star games.

                Discuss.

Raffy was busted for roids. I will never vote for an outed roider for the HOF.
