He'll only stay if he performs well. If he doesn't during ST they'll have to figure something else out. Split Prince/Cabrera at 1st/DH. Hopefully this will give him motivation to get in shape.

Can't believe they want to move Cabrera back to third. I understand that Martinez is out for the season, and that Fielder not only helps them down the road, but this season now. However, I just seem them moving Martinez next year, especially if they give Cabrera some time at third and find out just how bad he is. He never was better than average there to begin with, and after this time away, its going to be a train wreck.

Even if he loses weight, he was a bad defender there before he got fat. Even if he gets back to what he once was at his "natural position" (lol), there was a reason he got moved to begin with.

I still say this never happens.

Fielder to 1B, Cabrera will DH, and VMart will either never take another AB as a Tiger, or Cabrera heads to LF in 2013.

I really don't see him being at third, Leyland isn't dumb and may just be proving a point to him possibly. I'm not to worried about the situation of our three 1B/DH's until 2013.

They might as well resurrect the corpse of Ronnie Belliard to have the fattest IF in major league history.

Even if Miggy is twice as bad as a 3B than he was before getting moved off, he is still incredibly valuable there. He would be worth -2.2 runs based on WAR, but he might sniff 9 wins offensively.

Even with his putrid defense, he should still be just about a 7 win player.

The improvement isn't going to be that much with the Tigers. Have to realize they are losing V-Mart and Prince was only 2 WAR better than V-Mart. Prince also had a really good year in a much better hitters park. It's a slight improvement but I don't think it's a groundbreaking one.

VMart arguably had a career year, putting up his highest OPS+ total (132) and highest career batting average by like 30 points. That 132 career high OPS+ is routinely crushed by Fielder.

                      He also had 12 HR's and 46 walks to Fielder's 38 HR's and 107 walks.

This, to me, is where WAR can be a bit sketchy and does not add up to me.

With that said, there is a good chance Fielder hits less HR's this season, but I am not only confidant that his numbers will crush whatever VMart would have done, but i'm also pretty confident that a 33-year old VMart wasn't going to produce as well as he did last year either.

I don't think it's a massive improvement, but "slight" is not a word I would use either.
