Man I didn't realize Cordero was that old. I can still remember being bad that the Brewers didn't resign him back in 2007. I was a foolish kid back then.

He definitely read the market wrong. There's a few relievers his age who have been performing a lot better, who signed for a lot less. Of course there are still people in the industry who do funny things for a "closer." I just wish Krod would have misread the market.

The Orioles were rumored to be interested a week or two ago, and I am pretty sure that Cordero could beat out Gregg for a closers job. I am surprised he didn't take that. Cordero is a good candidate to be moved at the trade deadline, however. The Jays could get a decent prospect from that.

You can blame Melvin for that one. Don't offer arbitration when there is a salary that high for a reliever.
