Ludwick expected to miss "13-14" weeks at the very least. Derrick Robinson called up to take his place on the roster. Formal Royals farm guy, no major league at bats yet.

Dusty commented and said he doesn't want to move BP around in the lineup so he will be batting cleanup. Tonight's lineup Heisey is hitting 2nd.

Forget that he actually gets on base. Just the fact that Choo gives good AB's every time he comes to the plate is such a massive and drastic change from the slop the Reds have trotted out in that leadoff spot over the last decade. I go back to about 1986 or so with this team, and I can't remember the last acquisition that better filled a need than this guy.

Billy Hamilton has gone from the savior, to a guy who will end up being a downgrade.

4-2 after the Angels and Nationals is fantastic. Especially considering we didn't get much from Votto[1 RBI], and Bruce struggled early as well.

Now lets beat the shit out of STL, fuck the cardinals

His at bats are fun to watch. Walks after an 0-2 count with ease.

I stared at this for the longest time wondering, "How could Votto's numbers go down so much in three days, didn't he just hit a homerun yesterday?"

Votto addresses the "They aren't paying him to walk!" nonsense:

I'd say theres a good chance we see this man behind the plate tomorrow. I'd think he may be familiar most with Cingrani, plus Meso needs a blow.

Marshall & Broxton were only #Reds pitchers with a higher GB% than Manny Parra in '12. The IF defense behind him just improved dramatically.

The only thing NOT to like about Parra is his walk rate, but that's why we have Bryan Price and @mackjenkins57

                            C'mon Luckhaupt, Parra stinks.

Forget the walks (which are obscene), he gives up a million hits, too. His career WHIP is 1.645. He gives up a ton of runs as a result.

I don't want this guy on the MLB roster. He's slightly more useful than Redmond, because he's a LH RP and the Reds only had Marshall. But he stinks.
                            Called this shit in February.

I want Manny Parra off of this team. He needs to be released in two days when Marshall comes back.

Good Dusty: Not letting Cingrani come out for the 5th, despite only 85 pitches and two runs. He didn't have good stuff and was a disaster waiting to happen.

Bad Dusty: Leaving Alfredo Simon in the game to sac bunt, something he's never done in the majors, despite knowing he was starting the next inning with LeCure. If he was dead set on bunting, and not wanting to burn another player, pinch hit with Leake or another starting pitcher.

                                two things..

-I would send Cingrani down when Cueto comes back. Leake is league average, and league average doesn't hurt you at all (it actually is a pretty big advantage) from the #5 starter spot. Cingrani would be better served long term to work on his secondary stuff in AAA as opposed to the majors on a team that is contending. If the team was bad, i'd keep him around. If Leake was dreadful, i'd keep him around. Neither is the case, so the Reds have the luxury of sending him down and knowing they have a legit option to turn to if/when somebody else gets hurt or if Leake goes to shit.

-Sign Choo. Duh. BUT..3 years max. He probably wants more. But if you can get him for three years, do it. Arroyo comes off the books ($11.5M), plus Choo is already making $4M (from the Reds), so that's $15-$16M to play with. Plus, Votto takes a gigantic pay cut to $12M next season. So more than enough money is there, without even raising payroll a single penny.

-IF you sign Choo, you have to consider trading Hamilton. Nobody wants to hear this, but it's true. If you can get an impact player for him (like a power hitting LF), you probably have to do it. You could always keep Hamilton around, even if you sign Choo, and move Choo to LF. Ludwick only has one more year before they can buy him out.

-If you can't sign Choo, I think you still listen to offers for Hamilton, but ultimately you keep him and at least give him a shot to win the job next year. You don't go a decade with a giant hole a leadoff, cock tease the fans with one year of Choo, then plug it back with another black hole without at least giving Hamilton a chance since his ceiling is a game changing dynamic player.

The last thing I want to hear is "untouchable", because no prospect geek should be truly untouchable unless you have Mike Trout or Bryce Harper. Billy Hamilton is not untouchable.
