Eric Wedge proves once again that managers have no idea how to construct a lineup

Anyway, it should be Ackley leading off. He had one more walk than Ichiro in half the plate appearances. Meanwhile Figgins drew a robust 21 free passes in a similar amount of PAs to Ackley, sporting a nice .241 OBP.
Whether they have many options or not, Figgins represents their worst option.Comment

Ackley is the best option, and as I said in the Mariners thread, I think Ichiro is best suited to bat second, but then who hits third?
Bottom line is Figgins should not be leading off. He makes Austin Jackson and Drew Stubbs look like Joe Morgan.Comment

Smoak, Montero or Carp can hit 3rd. Really doesn't matter, but Figgins anywhere but 9 is retarded.Comment

Figgins did see around 4.10 pitchers per plate appearance which is pretty solid especially compared with Ichiro's 3.51. The point remains Ackley may be a better option (4.19) but Wedge probably thinks he has more power and run-producing ability later in the lineup.Comment

Doesn't surprise me. They've done it at times before but it's not where I want him. This is figgins last chance and are hoping this will help him get back.Comment

Why is Ichiro not batting leadoff? Thats where he's spent the majority of his career? The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"Comment

If only Ackley could hit 1st and 3rd and utilize a ghost runnerI give rep not thanks
