          This list is pretty much futile, considering it doesn't include guaranteed contracts currently signed. Albert Pujols is currently guaranteed to make almost 350 million over his career.

                im not sure i understand the futility of it

                this list just refers to, as of 2011, the amount of gross earnings of the top 20 players. of course the list is subject to change as different players sign different contracts and get paid, but that doesnt make the list any less correct or relevant to its purpose. its just something kinda fun to look at

                  I just think the odds of any player pulling a Gil Meche and giving back their guaranteed money are miniscule. Better off including current contracts in the list.

                      On my count, 10 of the 20 guys on the list played for either the Yankees or Red Sox at some point. Not very surprising.
