    2012 Bounce-Back Candidates

    - Kelly Johnson. The Jays seem to play a good style of baseball for his skills. He'll have his traditional high OBP and high power and will likely hit for a much better average in his first full year in Toronto.

    - Colby Rasmus. See above. For whatever reason (ie, the Man in the White Shirt) hitters who have been given up on by their previous team seem to thrive as soon as they get north of the border.

    - Adam "Ryan" Dunn. He can't be as bad as he was last year, right? I don't think he'll be back to pre-2011 levels, but splitting the difference between those extremes makes sense to me. 28 HRs sounds reasonable.

    - Kendrys Morales. I believe he's back. The DH role in a loaded Angels lineup is perfect as he recovers from leg injuries. He won't need to exert himself too much on all those stand-up doubles.

    - Jason Heyward. He still gets tied up a bit too often on inside pitches, mainly because he just has really long arms, but his bat speed is back thanks to a properly healed shoulder. He hit some absolute rockets out of the park this spring. I'm expecting another .380+ OBP season and 18-22 homers. Factor in the base-running and defense, which nearly alone accounted for his 2.2 fWAR last season, and it's not hard to fathom him being worth 4.5-5 wins this season.

Adam Dunn definitely. His at-bats during the spring have been way better and simply put he HAS to be better. He can't be as historically bad as he was last year.

Jeff is bouncing back from what exactly? Bounce back indicates he didn't always suck, right?

I went to Spring Training and actually witnessed Adam Dunn in a batting cage.

I left my speed gun at home but sources tell me it was between 85-90 mph. You can read more about this development and where top prospect Alex Rios might end up on my blog. Thanks!

-Fresh ballpark changes and health, he should have a huge year. Close to .300, 25+ HR.

              Johan Santana
-I guess anything is better than no starts!

Well to be fair Adam Dunn can't get any worse so any type of season he puts up will be considered a bounce back

David Wright- Scouts saying his bat speed looks great and his swing looks very good...combine that with the dimension changes at Citi, I'd expect Wright to be around .290-300, 25-30 HR's, 110 RBI's if he stays healthy.

Carl Crawford. Got that first year of putting way too much pressure on himself out of the way. He's too good of an athlete to have a repeat of last year.

Is it a bounce back if Jayson Werth hits .260?
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Hoping for Ubaldo Jimenez to bounce back this year. The suspension won't help, though.

I've been thinking since Spring Training that Chad Billingsley and Andre Ethier were primed and ready for big years. Ethier had his surgery, got his new owners, is in his contract year so will likely get his money. Essentially he's got nothing left to complain about unless the Dodgers don't add any new pieces (another thing he whines about - but you have to think that Kasten and Co. will do their best to make a splash). Billingsley had some tweaks to his mechanics and should be leaning harder on his off-speed stuff. I expect him to come back strong.

Broxton might do well in KC...
