If it's any consolation, it ruined the Reds for a long time, too. At least you didn't have to watch Griffey immediately get fat and stop trying.

Anyway, I thought really hard about the thread topic, and couldn't come up with anything. Playoff losses don's sting for me in any sport, because i'm just happy to see the postseason and have an enjoyable season. If I had to pick something, it would be the game 163 loss to the Mets in '99, but even that game was over by the 3rd inning and didn't hurt all that much. Maybe Eric Davis being traded. I was a kid, and he was my favorite, so that bothered me.

I feel ya there. All those years on the kingdoms turf and his all out play ruined his body. I can only imagine what it felt like to get the Michael Jordan of the sport and never get him healthy

My dad made me go to bed right before he came up to the plate. He tells me it's game six and the Phillies will win and he promised to let me watch the whole game seven.

I woke up the next morning, opened up the paper and was so mad.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

The day Kirby Puckett announced he would have to retire from baseball after getting beaned in the face or perhaps losing the 2002 ALCS to the Angels. The Twins haven't won a playoff series since beating Oakland that season.

Growing up, the Twins either had terrible to below average seasons or they won the series.

Game 6 of last yearS World Series and watching the Rangers blow it twice... TWICE in the final innings.

The past two decades under Peter Angelos. Mike Flanagan killing himself because of the public perception of his failures when he was in charge of the O's, even though he wasn't to blame at all, is pretty much the worst moment for me as an Orioles fan. The Jeff Maier thing, the 30 run loss to Texas a few years ago, those are painful memories but nothing worse than Flanny killing himself.
