This Matt Kemp guy is a pretty good hitter. He's also, according to the advanced metrics produced by my eye test, a pretty brutal CF.

James Loney is good for about a dozen HR's per season, slugs about .750, and gives you an OPS+ of barely over 100, which would be pretty nifty for a middle infielder, but is quite craptacular for a first baseman.

Dee Gordon is an electric offensive pest, with a rocket arm. However, he makes a lot of errors and weighs roughly 130 pounds, with a feminine frame which likely won't hold up well diving into the dirt several times a game and being taken out by hard slides on double plays.

So hows about this. Kemp to 1B, Gordon to CF, Random Hispanic Glove to SS, Loney to Baltimore after they whiff on a bunch of other free agents again.

Kemp has too much speed for 1st. If anything, maybe a move to LF at some point. Loney is frustrating as hell.

Unless of course you actually believe all that stuff about being a gold glove centerfielder ....

Though Gordon would probably make a great center fielder, I definitely agree on that one.

Seems like a waste of Kemp's athletic ability to put him at 1B. Yes, he's occasionally brutal in CF (thanks for the misplay the other night though!) but he's still way overqualified for 1B at this stage in his career. It'd make more sense to move Ethier to 1B and put Kemp in right.
