Yeah, the Braves are my top team in the NL right now, while the Dodgers and Cardinals are #2 and #3.

Kinda bummed I'll only get to catch the last game of this set live, but I'm glad I didn't witness last night's loss. Salas has been bad this year.

God damn adorable. You're almost there, bud.

Aroldis Chapman needs to be named the closer ASAP. Marshall has fucked up too many times if you ask me. I've been a Marshall hater since day 1 [him closing, that is...he is a great pitcher]. Personally I don't like my closer's primary pitch being a breaking ball. It's too easy for him to hang one in there on accident and give up dick shots. Plus his fastball is only in the low 90s, so when he throws that he gets hit a lot too. Time to switch the roles of Marshall and Chapman IMO.

Wow .... Davey has completely revamped the Nats' lineup.

He benched Espinosa in favor of Lombo (who's hitting leadoff)
                Desmond is hitting 5th ...

                Wow .... I'm impressed.

I have no problem with the idea of removing Marshall from the closer spot, but I wouldn't put Chapman there. Two reasons.

-Chapman is best utilized in his current role. Dusty uses him in all of the high leverage situations...he comes in with men on base, pitches multiple innings in scoreless games, protects one run leads, etc. If he closes, the Reds will be using inferior pitchers in those situations, while Chapman is saved for clean innings, often times with two or three run leads. That's a waste, imo.

-If he is moved to closing, he's staying in the bullpen all year.

I believe the Reds are set up perfectly for a committee, but we all know that will never happen. So realistically, I would prefer Marshall stay in the 9th for now, but if a move is needed, I would prefer to see Ondrusek or even Arredondo in the 9th instead of Chapman.

The best case scenario for the Reds would be to acquire a proven closer. It's still to early for that because the only team playing for next year at this point is the Twins.

Dusty's comments after the game make me think Chapman will be the closer soon/if not now.

*sigh* of course. Bat Ian Desmond leadoff, he swings at the first pitch. Hit him in the five hole and suddenly he wants to take pitches and work the count. Oh, and not run after swinging on a third strike that bounces about 15 feet away from Weiters ....

                            Yup.

It's looking more & more like Masset and Bray won't be back and effective until the second half (if at all), so the bullpen is what it is. Moving Chapman to the 9th means that somebody like Sam LeCure or JJ Hoover will be forced into more high leverage situations now. It can be argued that the bullpen has carried the team to this point, I hope the dynamic isn't disrupted with Chapman relegated to the 9th.

Orioles need to give Adam Jones however much he wants. Dude is on a tear.
