This is Logan White's second time drafting a non-pitcher in the first round. First time he did was James Loney. Also, Doyers picked up Jose Valentin's son because no Logan White draft is complete with picking up the kid of a major leaguer.

Why is this thread sticky? Anyway with the Orioles draft

Gausman was known to be the pick for months so yeah

Brandon Kline is going to be a tough sign. But if we get him in he will be added to our already good bullpen. Depending how season goes he could be up in August/September.

Love Christian Walker in the 4th. Big power 1st baseman on 2 national championship teams. Shouldn't be in minors long. 2 years tops I believe.

Also like drafting his teammate in Matthew Price who is another future bullpen arm.

What is the recommended salary for the 4th pick? The Pirates have ~3.9 million to give Appel, apparently he is leaning towards returning to Stanford. I doubt he gets more next year.

With the new CBA, high draft picks will rarely, if ever, get more money by returning to school. Most teams aren't going to be willing to give up a draft pick to go over slot.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

No deal for Appel and the Pirates. He'll probably go #1 next year.

Gausman signed with Baltimore in the end.

Nats got Lucas. A tall highschooler that can supposedly hit triple digits and has a nasty curveball

Should just go ahead and give him the TJS now and he can pitch in the big leagues in 2 years
