Interested to see how tonight's game plays out with Archer making his MLB debut. I have to agree with Joe Maddon about last night's "issue" as well. What a fucking joke. Pine tar on a glove only provides better grip. It does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the ball, the break on the ball, etc. Davey Johnson was just being Davey Johnson - a total dick. When Peralta was a member of the Nationals, they didn't seem to give a shit, now they call-out a guy for something that A LOT of pitchers do. Can't wait to see if Archer blows smoke by these guys and don't be shocked if Maddon asks the umpires to check a few Nats' pitchers' gloves.

1. If you want a better grip, use the rosin bag
2. It provides grip, which leads to being able to put more torque on the ball. Which leads to better breaking balls. It's the same principal as why they don't let balls with scuffs stay in play.
3. It was kind of dumb for Peralta to try it on a team he used to play with that knew he was doing it.
4. Maddon had himself a lovely little whining session with the press afterwards

As for Archer, he pitched well. He deserved the win. If his catcher and third baseman could catch the ball, he'd probably have won.
