    Roger Clemens - HOFer?

Now that his trial is over, the Hall of Fame talk has already begun.

I think Clemens is a Hall of Famer, because if you use the same argument for him that is used for Barry Bonds (he was a HOF talent without the steroids), I think you can make the case that Clemens was a HOF caliber pitcher before he used the steroids. That said, I can't really pinpoint when Clemens would have started using steroids, so my argument is admittedly pretty flimsy.

I'd say that Clemens should be a first ballot Hall of Famer since he has been found not guilty. The problem for him is that the baseball writers that will be voting seem to have some type of elitist view on the transgressions of players and coaches. They will probably look at it as Clemens wasn't innocent, just found to be not guilty and they will punish him by not voting him into the hall until after he dies or something along those lines.

      Should he be in? Yes.

Will he? No. As Bill said the suspicion alone will prevent writers from putting him in.

Yes Barry Bonds should be in the HOF. But he'll never get in.

          Oh wait...

I'd have to say that he gets in even with the suspicion.

If Roger Clemens is not part of a museum which purports to tell the history of baseball, then that museum is not a credible one. Gotta be in.

Exactly what I've been saying with all the steroid guys. That shit happened, it's apart of baseball history as much as pre-segregation, as much as guys pitching with a higher mound, etc. These things happened and to just ignore them is silly. I'm all for having a wing or an area that says that these dudes cheated and took steroids. It won't happen but it's a major part in the story of the game of baseball.

Yes, but idiots like this guy:

Have retarded moments of piety and love to write dumb shit about "purity of the game." So he probably won't get in. Neither will Bonds. And I won't feel bad for them because both Clemens and Bonds are total assholes.

I have a feeling Bonds and Clemens will get in eventually. Down the road, something will come out that puts steroids in a less harmful light. Either a study that says there really wasn't much of a performance-enhancing boosts, but more likely something new will come down that puts steroids to shame, and the veterans committee may look more favorably on guys like Clemens and Bonds.

Both guys have the numbers to be first-ballot guys, but it's just not going to happen. Though the Astros have already reached out to offer Clemens a job, so who knows.

Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Pete Rose are all first-ballot HOFers ... hold your nose.
Rafael Palmeiro and Ivan Rodriguez HOFers on second or third ballot, Breaking Bad morals.
Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire ... absolutely not HOFers. Those mofos are purely synthetic, especially McGwire.

Id say he is a first ballot in my eyes but in sports writers eyes that may be different. Ultimately I think he deserves to get in but wont get in

Anyone who doesn't vote for him doesn't have much to stand on since the only reason he was a part of the Mitchell Report was the testimony of McNamee.

Based on the numbers alone he looks like a top 10 pitcher of all time so he has to get in as far as I'm concerned.
