I honestly can't remember a year where there were more horrendous offensive teams at the same time. I can't fathom a year with as many teams as bad offensively as Oakland, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Tampa Bay, Seattle and Cubs.Comment

Rizzo batting 3rd tonight.Comment

Was like that last year too. Lots of good reasons, including the growing emphasis on run prevention in front offices these days, which ties into Jonah Keri's "Fuld Theory" that more teams are going with great fielders out of their spare roster spots and punting offense.Comment

Yeah, I suppose it's definitely true. It's not terrible to see, you just have to adjust your expectations. We all grew up in an era where offense was insane and now it's doing the turn in the other direction. With that being said, Scott Hariston bats cleanup. SCOTT HARISTON. In 2012.Comment

Forget the bad offensive teams, even the "good" teams often have 2 or 3 batters that scare you, and the rest are banjo hitters. Very few teams scare you up and down the lineup.
Like Fed, i'm fine with that. Baseball in the 90's was weird.Comment
