Doesn't have great numbers, fourth round pick last year, basically the low minors type you would expect in this kind of deal.

5:36pm: The Phillies will also receive minor league catcher Gabriel Lino in the trade according to Rosenthal (on Twitter). The 19-year-old backstop is hitting .218/.282/.340 in 227 plate appearances down in Low Class-A this year. Baseball America ranked him as Baltimore's 21st best prospect before the season in their Prospect Handbook, noting that he offers power potential but is raw behind the plate.

Simon was the 18th ranked prospect.

All things considered, not a bad haul for half a season of a 40-something year old part time player.

Orioles don't lose much in this deal, and getting Thome helps a lineup that started hot but has really been hurt by injuries. Having him DH and hitting fifth or six will be huge for this team. This is still a streaky team- we are 3-7 in the past 10 games- but they have the potential to go 7-3 in the next 10. I wonder what other move(s) Duquette can make.

Also interesting that they would give up the prospects and not sign Manny Ramirez for cheap. I am not complaining at all, but damn, no one wants ManRam.
