Micah Owings is giving up pitching and headed to AAA to become a full time hitter. He plans to play 1B, LF, and DH for the Padres AAA affiliate.
For his career he's got a .283/.310/.502 line with 9 HR's in 213 PA's. The D'Backs & Reds used him pretty frequently as a PH. He's hitting .444 in AAA this year, in PH & DH duty while rehabbing an arm injury.
Reported that Longoria is out until at least August. It is time for this organization to make a move. It doesn't need to be a blockbuster or a massive shift from the personnel acquisition philosophy the team currently has, but, the situation needs to be closely monitored over the next few weeks and if the playoffs are within striking distance, they need to make a move.

He was a tremendous hitter at Ga Tech and Tulane, I was always bummed the D'backs chose to make him a pitcher.
Who would of thought that the A's would be sitting at 43-43 heading into the All-star break. 8 games back of Texas for divison and 2.5 games back of the wildcard.
