Also I think it's worth pointing out that empire thinks Matt Holliday is a strong MVP candidate. Please note empire, the Cardinals are not a first or second place team, which goes against your apparent selection criteria. This is a player who isn't even Top Ten in the NL in most categories, and highest ranking is fifth in runs. Dude should not be mentioned in this discussion.Comment

Lynn is not eligible for ROTY consideration. Too much service time.
NL MVP: Andrew McCutchen
AL MVP: Mike Trout
NL Cy Young: R.A. Dickey
AL Cy Young: Chris Sale
NL ROTY: Bryce Harper
AL ROTY: Mike Trout
NL MOTY: Clint Hurdle

Not just fangraphs, but MLB.com too.
I can cut FG a break for getting it wrong, but its inexcusable for MLB to botch that.Comment

This leads back to something I have always wondered about. If the writers "accidentally" vote a guy for the award who turns out to be not eligible, what would they do? I don't think giving it to 2nd place is fair, due to the 3-2-1 (or whatever it is) voting that is used. I think they would have to re vote.Comment

NL MVP: Andrew McCutcheon- tough pick but he's a huge cog for the surprising Pirates. If they fall out of contention this might change, but it's the mid-season awards for a reason.
AL MVP: Mike Trout- completely changed the direction of the Angels when called up. That is exactly what you expect from a MVP.
NL Cy Young: RA Dickey- came out of nowhere, at or near the top of most main pitching stats.
AL Cy Young: Justin Verlander- workhorse starter, essentially carrying the rest of the Tigers pitching staff. Once again putting together an excellent season.
NL ROTY: Todd Frazier- I believe Frazier is eligible, but he's having a very good season though Harper certainly has the name going against Frazier. Someone posted the splits earlier, and that is really all you need to know :toddfather:
AL ROTY: Mike Trout
NL MOTY: Clint Hurdle- Pirates are building on last year's success and in the thick of the playoff race so Hurdle is deserving. Both he and the next choice deserve both MOTY awards at the end of the season if their teams finish at .500
AL MOTY: Buck Showalter- essentially the same reasoning as Hurdle, except he is building on a strong second half of 2010 and a disaster in 2011.Comment

A. Who gives a shit, it's manager of the year and we know that managers don't affect a team's W-L very much to begin with.
B. His team is winning more games than they should be with that roster, which is all this award is ever about anyway.Comment
