Mets P Gee hospitalized, to undergo angiogram

New York Mets right-hander Dillon Gee has been hospitalized in New York, multiple members of the organization confirmed.

Manager Terry Collins, reached in Kansas City, said Gee experienced numbness in his fingers and was due to undergo an angiogram.
"They aren't sure what it is yet," Collins said.

A teammate said the issue was believed to be blood-related in Gee's shoulder. Another member of the organization said Gee was admitted to the hospital Monday and underwent an MRI.
Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz declined comment. Attempts to reach GM Sandy Alderson were unsuccessful.

A woman who answered the phone at Gee's parents' home in Texas said father, Kevin Gee, was en route to New York.

A call to agent Bryan Cahill was not immediately returned.

Gee, 26, is scheduled to pitch the Mets' second-half opener in Atlanta on Friday.

New York Mets pitcher Dillon Gee will remain hospitalized for the next day or two after a blood clot was found in an artery in his right shoulder.
