Nats lose, Braves were idle, so we are only 2.5 back with a huge 4-game series this weekend.

Season turning win? Maybe, maybe not. Huge win nonetheless with Cincy and Pittsburgh (assumingly) falling.

Votto down? No problem. Just trade for Cole Hamels, Jason Vargas, and Francisco Liriano. And PETE ORR.

Joey Votto has become irreplaceable. I would like to see some trades that fill Reds needs. Phillies LHP Cole Hamels would be a nice addition. But we need guys who intend to be on the reds long-term.
Seattle Mariners LHP Jason Vargas and Minnesota Twins LHP Francisco Liriano would be excellent additions. I would like them both. So; RHP Bronson Arroyo would need to go. He has been a solid innings guy. But 2 lefties are needed in the rotation. Meaning RHP Mike Leake should be explored to the minors for tune up on his mechanics.
Kansas City RHP Johnathan Broxton is a solid closer. He would give us a 1-2 punch at closer joining to alternate saves with LHP Aroldis Chapman. Broxton would give us the Nasty Boys 2 version with Sean Marshall being similiar to former red LHP Norm Charlton. Withou Broxton having the bad attitude of RHP Rob Dibble, Chapman clearly throws faster than LHP Randy Myers. But these 3 releivers could be the hammers of the bullpen.
Hitters I would like to see as redlegs:
Seattle Mariners IF/OF Chone Figgans still has the speed. But his production has taken a nose dive. I think he still brings the ability to steal bases that the reds clearly lack. He can play 7 of 9 positions on the field; excluding pitcher and catcher spots. Use Figgans right, and he could be a great find to fill needed holes. Plus, he switch hits.
The lefty batter off the bench that fits the best with Cincy; is Philadelpia's minor leaguer IF Pete Orr. He can play all infield positions 1B, 2B, SS, and 3B.
I think Reds OF Drew Stubbs for Minnesota Twins OF Ben Revere would a good trade for the Reds. Revere does not have the pope of Stubbs. But he is that leadoff hitter we are seeking. It only makes since to make Stubbs the exchange for Revere. Both are fast. But Revere is the lefty we need. Plus, Reds OF Chris Heisey platoon with Revere and Chone Figgans in CF.

Mets season rests on this next series with the Nats. 6 GB in the division. Three more games against them next week before a big ass west coast trip that takes them through the first week of August.

Nothing else but winning the two series with Washington will keep them above water. Hopefully, they don't come down against the Dodgers in between, too.

Drew Stubbs for Ben Revere is pretty hilarious. I'm guessing he also wants Arroyo dealt for either Vargas or Liriano, and that's not going to happen.

Not quite as bad as top prospect Alex Rios, but pretty close.

WOW, this Marlins fire sale just got serious..

The Marlins will be willing to discuss every player on their roster, including Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Johnson and Omar Infante, if they decide to sell, Olney writes.
That's right folks. OMAR INFANTE is available.

Seriously though, Stanton? Why on earth would they move him?

He and Reyes should be the only two they don't consider moving. The thing they also have to their advantage is a lot of their players still have contracts that go beyond this season.

If you haven't realized my now, Loria is a fucking lunatic with no idea how to run a baseball franchise.

It will be interesting to see Zach Britton take the mount tonight, and see what he can do. He could be one of the saviors that the starting pitching staff needs and the bullpen is close to being overloaded so we need for him to step up.

Robert Andino is now out for 3-4 weeks as well, yet another injury to add to the list. The infield needs help in the worst way, and after seeing him last night, I really want the Orioles to push for Hanley Ramirez. We would have him for this year and two more, so that would be an excellent move to help infield depth and add another hitter to the lineup, and I think a change of scenery would also be beneficial. The Orioles can take the salary, and that would help them lower the prospect price.
