Nice novel of a title...
Wonder what the ChiSox gave up that the Mets were apparently unwilling to (eh, Joel Sherman reported they had no interest in Myers...why the fuck not?). They're dying because of the pen while Houston seems to be willing to drive their high priced vets out of town for a pile of beans.

White Sox gave up:
RHP Matt Heidenreich
LHP Blair Walters
PTBNL
these middling prospects?

Sandy Alderson has done a horrible job.
Astros have traded four decent bullpen arms, who would clearly find roles in that atrocious Mets pen (Lyon & especially Myers are studs compared to anything the Mets throw out there) in the last two days, and not a peep out of the Mets. The Astros practically gave these players away.
And for that matter, the Mets probably could have gotten Cordero from TOR for a sack of baseballs or something. Yes, he sucks, but he'd be worth the minimal risk and isnt making a ton.
Meanwhile, Alderson does nothing.Comment

Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
#chisox only responsible for $1M of myers' deal this year. also received $ toward '13 salary or buyout.
This makes the Mets look even worse, they can't even blame the money.Comment

...and then today the Mets use Dickey in relief, where he proceeds to get rocked.
This is now a Mets trashing thread.Comment

Dickey's a warrior and it's sad they tried to rely on him today b/c the pitching staff is decimated.
The Mets still won't put Valdespin in the starting line-up.
Batista in the spot start, better be his last.
They have fight in them, they're just fighting from a deficit way too much....or in the rare event they have a late lead, the pen gives it up. With Santana's ankle fucked up, Gee done for, they need reinforcements and they don't have any.
Hopefully, Matt Harvey can convince them he deserves a call-up and he can make his debut next week. Anything is better than this shit.

Good deal for the White Sox, as that extra arm in the bullpen will be huge for them.
As for the Mets being discussed here, I too am shocked why they didn't make a move. It's not like giving up a top prospect or anything, and you still want to do the best you can. And with Santana on the DL, the pitching needs help wherever you can find it.Comment
