CLEVELAND Heralded middle infielder Jurickson Profar will be among six players who will join the Rangers on Saturday when the roster limit expands to 40 players.
Profar, 19,. has spent the season with Double-A Frisco, which is headed to the Texas League playoffs. Manager Ron Washington said he will use Profar as a pinch-hitter and pinch-runner with some occasional playing time at the middle-infield spots.
The Rangers added left-hander Martin Perez, right-hander Yoshi Tateyama, outfielder Leonys Martin and utility player Brandon Snyder from Triple-A Round Rock. All four have appeared with the Rangers this season.
The club also put left-hander Robbie Ross on the disabled list because of a strained forearm. That will allow them to bring back right-hander Tanner Scheppers from Round Rock. He had been scheduled to stay in the minors through Monday because of an option assignment.
To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Profar, the Rangers designated minor league left-hander Miguel de los Santos for assignment. They also promoted right-hander Tyler Tufts from Frisco and put him on the disabled list because of an intestinal problem. That moves gives them flexibility when putting together the postseason roster.
It gives us bodies, flexibility, Washington said of the larger roster. You have more people with ability. That makes it less stressful.

Sure its just because rosters have expanded and like they said in the article its for pinch hitting and running with occasional playing time. I can go ahead and say that he'll start in AAA next year.
It is nice to see how he will fair against major league pitching.
