Qualifying is underway, first game is in the books. Israel, with an impressive roster of minor leaguers like Josh Satin of the Mets, and managed by Brad Ausmus, knock off hapless South Africa, who i'm hoping misses the field this time around.
Shawn Green (39 years old) goes 2-5 with a run scored for the heebs.
Adam Greenberg, who played one MLB game back in 2005 for the Cubs, and hasn't played professional baseball since 2008, is one of the interesting stories on the Israel team.

As you can see, Canada got screwed because the MLB season wont be over during qualifying. Panama catches a break and should qualify pretty easy since all organized baseball will be over by the time they play.
