    Marlins "seeking replacement" for Guillen

Ozzie Guillen may join Joe Girardi on the list of managers who lasted one year in Miami.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Marlins are "seeking a replacement" for Guillen, which would lead to Guillen's firing after just the first year of a four-year, $10 million contract.

The Marlins finished 69-93 and in the National League East cellar, despite entering a season with high expectations. The team spent heavily heading into their first season in a new ballpark, signing free agents Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Heath Bell to long-term contracts.

Not only did the Marlins underachieve on the field, but Guillen angered a heavy Cuban fan base when he said he admired Cuban dictator Fidel Castro for staying in power so long. His comments appeared in a Time Magazine article and prompted a five-game suspension from the team and dulled much of the season-opening buzz about the team.

"Do I have any regrets about this year? Yes, about the guy comments," he told the Florida Sun-Sentinel on Thursday, referring to that story. "That's it. Losing games, that's part of the game."

I wouldn't blame everything solely on Guillen, as the front office gave a lot of money to an underachieving Heath Bell and the bullpen was not very good, but it seems that he's going to take the fall for it.

Any manager who would sign up to work for Loria after the way he's treated the last 4 managers must be desperate.

      I hear Bobby V is available ....
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Hopefully this turns into a situation like the Baltimore GM search last year, where absolutely no one wanted the job.

          lol

Bobby's smarter than he looks...he'll take Boston's money and collect some easy checks from ESPN.

Not everything falls soley on Guillen...but he's gotta get the ax. Complete breakdown on all levels. Everyone needs to go. Keep Stanton and everyone else can go.

The roster was strong...if anyone says otherwise, they're silly. But, just a breakdown starting at the top. Ozzie needs to go. GM is already gone. They already traded Hanley and other players. Hanley was a major cancer on the team. He's talented, obviously, but on the Marlins, he knew what was up...didn't have to do shit. So, he didn't do shit.

Marlins need to start from the ground up again. Keep Stanton, everything else can go.

Loria wanted Bobby V before. However, lots of players on the team went to him and told him not to.

No, I agree with you on that one. A talented team fell apart, and he made that absolutely stupid comment about Castro too. There are some things you just can't say, and both Guillen and Bobby V said some of those things this year.

What about Jose Reyes? If you are including him in everyone must go, I would agree. Each year, his value is going to drop because people are going to see Carl Crawford 2.0 with that contract, especially given Reyes' previous injury history with the Mets.

From a name perspective, the roster was strong, but that was it. Ramirez is an outfielder or first baseman, and even then, not very good defensively. Infante is an average defender, and so was Sanchez. And as you said, Ramirez knew he didn't have to care, so he didn't. Josh Johnson did not bounce back from injury to dominate like was expected, and the bullpen was pretty bad and put the team in an early hole. Things just didn't go right, and the off-season moves were to put people in seats, nothing more.
