White Sox signed RHP Jake Peavy to a two-year, $29 million contract with an option for 2015.
The $15 million option for 2015 kicks in if Peavy reaches certain thresholds the next two seasons. Peavy seemed poised to hit it big on the open market, but he is clearly comfortable in Chicago and it's not like this new contract will leave him unsatisfied monetarily. The 31-year-old right-hander posted a stellar 3.37 ERA and 194/49 K/BB ratio in 219 innings (32 starts) this season for the White Sox. He seems to be past the shoulder problems that plagued him in 2010 and 2011, and should hold considerable fantasy value in 2013.
