David Ortiz & Red Sox Agree To A 2-Year, $26m Deal

    Rotoworld

David Ortiz has reached an agreement on a two-year, $26 million deal with the Red Sox.

Ortiz quickly locked up the two-year deal that he long coveted. With incentives, the contract could reach as high as $30 million. The 36-year-old slugger is coming off one of his finest seasons, hitting .318/.415/.611 with 21 homers and 60 RBI in just 90 games.

I think the Red Sox needed to move past a lot of things that happened recently, and by re-signing Ortiz and bringing back Farrell, they are moving in the wrong direction. As an Orioles fan, I can't be happier, but the Red Sox fans deserve a little better than this. If the FO is going to make the trade with the Dodgers, at least move this on to a true rebuild, where you leave both Francona and behind. Those two moves don't accomplish either.
