The Braves have always had a reputation for being able to trade the younger players and prospects that wouldn't pan out, and keep the ones who would end up doing well. That's been very true over the past few seasons. Part of that was why I was hoping the Orioles wouldn't trade Adam Jones to them, and if memory serves, both Jair Jurrjens and Tommy Hanson were on the table. The Orioles also wanted Minor, which was the deal breaker in the trade for Wren.

Anyone remember top 3B prospect Andy Marte? Dealt for Edgar Renteria, who put up a great season for the Braves in 2006. He ended up being traded to the Indians, and was eventually traded by Cleveland for Mark De Rosa.

Then there was the trade of Charles Thomas, Dan Meyer and Juan Cruz for Tim Hudson. Can't forget Jose Capellan for Danny Kolb. I'm pretty sure I am forgetting a few in there over the past decade, but their track record with trades speaks for itself in most instances.

JOSE CAPELLAN holy shit forgot that name. Threw triple digit heat.

Dan Kolb was pretty garbage with the Braves but at least Capellan didn't pan out.

        And he actually lands somewhere.....

The White Sox have signed Tommy Hanson to a minor-league deal, sources said.

Hanson, still only 27, failed to make the Rangers in spring training after suffering a rough season with the Angels last year. He had double-digit win totals four straight years in Atlanta to start his career before slipping the past couple of seasons.

He is 49-35 with a 3.80 ERA lifetime but was just 4-3 with a 5.42 in Anaheim after coming over in a trade for reliever Jordan Walden.
