Even the trade market is fucked. BEN REVERE netted a top prospect and a good MLB starter.

        Saw a surprising stat.

The NL OBA for leadoff hitters last year was only .318

Yeah, but the team picking up Revere has four seasons left with him. That I can buy, and the Phillies were dealing from a position of strength with their pitching. Can't excuse the Michael Young interest, but I actually like that deal for a team that has to get younger.

I also finally like a Red Sox addition, Uehara is a great pickup for their bullpen. Can close games, can pitch in just about any situation and has impeccable control. I am disappointed the Orioles did not add him back.

Daily News' John Harper tweets the Rangers "would" trade Mike Olt for Dickey if they can't acquire Greinke or Shields.

                  hmm...

And where the hell would the Mets stick Olt?

This. I would say do it if there was a chance Olt could play OF, but I haven't heard whether or not that's doable. Don't think you need another 1B-only type to add to the logjam, and Olt isn't exactly young by prospect standards, but if he can play a passable LF then it makes sense.

If the Mets can get Olt for a 38 year old knuckelballer who they cant sign, they should do it and worry about where to play him later.

#Reds went after Revere, but price would've been (roughly) a player b/w Leake and Bailey in value and Daniel Corcino.

                          FUCK. THAT.

good job Walt, that price is ridiculous

2:19pm: Talks between the Phillies and Rockies never got serious, Renck reports (on Twitter). Talks with the Reds could pick up, …

Looks like it would be Leake, Stubbs/Heisey, and two "prospects" for Fowler.

I think I would do this if the "prospects" were reasonable.

Rangers sound pretty confident they'll end up with Upton via trade and Greinke via signing. Damn, quite a haul, and a lot better use of that Josh Hamilton money.

You really would do that? I don't see the point of giving up that much major league talent + some minor leaguers for a guy who is just a place holder for Billy Hamilton. I am 100% fine with Stubbs for 1 more season [as long as he's not batting leadoff], then we get Hamilton and still keep all our guys.
