    White Sox sign Jeff Keppinger

Jeff Keppinger will sign a three-year deal with the White Sox, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com (via Twitter).

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported this morning that the Sox were one of a handful of teams in on Keppinger, who was expected to land a two- or three-year contract. Estimates yesterday put the price tag for a three-year deal for Keppinger around $13MM, so we'll see what Chicago ends up paying for the utility man.

Keppinger, 32, is a career .288/.337/.396 hitter, and is coming off an excellent season with the Rays, in which he posted an .806 OPS in 418 plate appearances. He spent time at first base, second base, and third base in Tampa Bay last year.

Guy is a solid player and I'm sure the White Sox will enjoy his versatility. He mashes lefties and is decent vs righties. He's not going to hit a ton of homers, but he's got a nice swing and hits the ball hard where it's pitched. He rarely gets fooled at the plate as well and doesn't strike out often. He's basically the exact opposite of everyone else in the White Sox lineup.

Never thought this guy would amount to anything when he was on the Reds. Good for him, he's found his role and has turned out to be a productive ball player.
